Return to school Arrangements September 2021

A reminder of the arrangements for dropping off and collecting, along with information about PE lessons for when we return to school this Thursday 2nd September.

Dropping off and collecting procedures

We are planning to maintain the following procedures for the drop- off and collection of children in September:

Dropping off

Nursery pupils should arrive via the main pedestrian gate and proceed to the Nursery door where they will be welcomed by their teachers at 8.45am or 12.30pm.

Reception pupils should arrive via the pedestrian gate and enter school through the door at the bottom of the steps at 8.45am.

Year 1 pupils should arrive via the pedestrian gate and enter school through the Y1 door (towards the main office).

Year 2 pupils should arrive via the pedestrian gate and enter school through the blue gate adjacent to the school office area at 8.45am (the children have been shown this route by their Y1 teachers).

Key Stage 2 pupils should enter the school grounds via the bus layby gate on Hobnock Road. Parents are welcome to wait with their children there. Children enter school through the gate onto the playground at 8.45am.

Please note that all doors and gates will be open from 8.45am and there will be staff on duty there until registration starts at 8.55am when the doors and gates are secured.

Collection

Reception parents/carers should enter the school grounds via the pedestrian gate. At 3.10pm, pupils in REC and RLB will be dismissed from the door at the bottom of the steps; pupils in RKB will be dismissed from the Nursery door.

Year 1 parents/carers should enter the school grounds via the pedestrian gate. At 3.15pm the Y1 pupils will be dismissed from the Y1 door.

Year 2 parents/carers should enter the school grounds via the pedestrian gate. At 3.15pm the blue gate will be opened and the classes will be dismissed from the gate.

Key Stage 2

We will be operating the ‘one way’ system for collecting children from Key stage 2, with parents/carers entering school via the bus layby gate and then exiting via the normal pedestrian gate onto Hobnock Road. Whilst this system was put in place originally to assist with social distancing, school staff, pupils and parents have found that this dismissal was much safer and more orderly, and reduced the risk of children getting ‘lost in the crowd’.

Year 3 and Year 4 classes will be brought out onto the playground by their teachers, and at 3.20pm the gate will be opened and parents/carers will be invited to come onto the playground to collect their children.

Year 5 and Year 6 pupils will be brought out onto the playground by their teachers at 3.25pm.

Some children in Year 5 and Year 6 will have written permission to leave the school premises unaccompanied, to either walk home or to meet a parent/carer elsewhere, and those pupils will be dismissed by their teachers from the playground to leave the school premises by

the pedestrian gate.

**Please be assured that staff will remain with their pupils until they are collected, and there will be staff at the pedestrian gate to ensure that everyone has gone home safely.**

Arrangements for P.E in September

In September we will be continuing to ask pupils to attend school on PE days in their PE kits. Here is a reminder of what will be required on PE days:

  • Attend school wearing PE shorts, white PE t-shirt and trainers;

  • Have PE pumps in a bag which is kept in school on their coat peg or in their locker;

  • Wear a school jumper or cardigan over the PE t-shirt;

  • Wear plain joggers or leggings over the PE shorts (if it warm joggers are not required);

  • Jewellery and earrings are left at home (please see the parent guide here);

  • Long hair is tied up

By 3rd September you will be informed of the days that your child will be doing PE and that timetable will commence from Monday 6th September.
