Changes to End of Term arrangements 2021
Dear parents,
No doubt you will be aware of the announcement by the Government yesterday that there will not be any significant change to the Covid19 restrictions on 21st June.
Unfortunately this has necessitated some changes to the arrangements for the end of term activities that we have planned.
Sports Days
All of the sports day events will take place with pupils participating as planned. However, we are unable to invite parents and families to spectate at these events as the restriction that “…gatherings must not exceed 30 people,” remains. We will however provide plenty of photographs and videos on our social media of the events over the course of the week that they are happening.
Parents’ Evening
The ‘rule of 6’ for meeting indoors remains, and therefore our parents’ evening consultations will be telephone appointments. If after receipt of the end of year reports parents would like to have a discussion with class teachers, you will be able to make an appointment for a telephone call using the online booking system, as usual. We will let you know when the telephone appointments will be available and when the booking system will open at the beginning of next week.
Year 6 Leavers’ Disco
We are committed to providing a special event for the Y6 pupils before they leave. Once the plans are finalised, in the light of restrictions remaining in place, we will share them with parents and children. Y6 production of Matilda We remain committed to giving Y6 pupils the opportunity to participate in this exciting event, and a lot of hard work has already gone into it. We will not be able to invite audiences in to school and so we are looking at ways that this can be shared with parents online.
It is very unfortunate that we have had to make these changes. We are very conscious that we have a responsibility to the community of Essington to operate responsibly and safely, given the guidance and the associated Covid19 risks. At the same time we are committed to giving the children great experiences and so the most important thing is that, whilst the arrangements may have changed, the children will not miss out. We know that this will be a priority for parents too, and we thank you for your continued support.
Yours sincerely
Miss Samantha Price
