Home Learning FAQ
Below are to some answers to queries that were highlighted from the Parental Questionnaire.
Q: We've been unable to type on to the document to complete work.
Depending on the device you are using can affect whether you can type into the document. For those working in Google Classroom on Apple or Android devices we'd recommend using the Google Classroom App from the play stores and also the Google Slides app which will help with editing directly into your work. We've provided some links below to help. If you’d rather email in the work please use the homelearning@stjohnsprimary.academy address and it will be forwarded to the class teacher. Don’t forget to put in the email, who your childs’ class teacher is please!

Q: We use Amazon Fire tablets
As Amazon are a rival company to Google they don't make it as easy to install apps on their devices and there are ways to side load the Google Apps but we wouldn’t recommend this. The best way to interact with Google Classroom on these devices is to install the Silk browser from the Amazon App store and login to classroom.google.com with your St John's account
Q: When opening up on an android phone the links do not work when pressing them on the slides
Installing the Google Slides app as discussed above would help with this or holding you finger on the link for a few seconds to open up a pop up that will ask if you want to open the link. Please note you may need to put the Slides file into presentation mode.
For links in the Early Years resources (Online Learning Area) you can either install the Android Powerpoint Slideshows and Presentations App which can help make the experience of looking at the slides on an Android device better. We’ll also look at having the link seperate within the folder structures in the online learning areas so that access to any links are available.

Q:Teachers need to be mindful that children encounter problems with Google classroom. Lost work due to system problems.
Google Classroom automatically saves files and any issues would only be if the Wifi connection is lost. Do not close browser until the internet connection has been recovered.
pupil doesn’t have email so we would need to use parents for communication with teacher
